How to use Human Design to find your ideal business model in the online service industry

 

For so long the high-achiever in me was in the driver's seat of my business. 

Its motto was “Succeed, no matter the cost”. 

And that version of me created a 7 figure business… that I hated

My business constantly relied on me being “on”, which led to burnout… which then led to a miscarriage, which changed my life overnight. 

I realised the results I was experiencing weren’t coming from my strategies or a business model that was working for me, but because I was a high-achiever and would stop at nothing to succeed

I had built my business like a Manifestor. It was constantly on-off and I was in a perpetual launch cycle moving from one offer to the next.

There was absolutely no space for my sacral to respond because everything was planned out for the year. 

There was no opportunity for me to get to know my clients on a deeper level because I poured all of my energy into shorter-term masterminds (3 months).

I was forcing everything instead of waiting for my sacral response.

I never prioritised rest or support (or strategies that would give me both and a sense of freedom).

I was constantly overwhelmed by mental and physical pressure and I was overidentifying with the over-achiever in me. I had no practices that helped me move through this stress and detach from an identity that was no longer serving me. 

I hadn’t realised it at the time, but I essentially built a business that went against who I am to my core; which is a 5/1 Sacral Manifesting Generator, a 7H Cancerian with a Capricorn stellium in my 1st house and a Leo stellium in my 8th house. 

Connecting to my Human Design (and Astrology) helped me get clear on the type of business I was meant to create. 

Now, I have an evergreen business model where my sacral can respond without pressure or urgency from my mind.

Today, I work with clients in a personalised consulting capacity for as long as 9 months and many of my clients I have worked with for a number of years. 

This is why I look to Human Design when I’m working with my clients. It allows me to tailor a business and scaling strategy that is most aligned to their energy to ensure a profitable and sustainable business. 

So today, I wanted to introduce you to Human Design and share how you can leverage your Human Design Energy Type and Authority to create a business you love. 

What is Human Design? 

Human Design is a system that blends together various ancient modalities including Astrology, the Chakra System, the Chinese I’Ching, the Kaballa Tree of Life and sooo much more. It’s the roadmap to the energetic imprinting you receive at birth.

HD is a beast, but I want to share with you the key aspects that you can work with today that will reshape the way you approach business.

Human Design is first and foremost categorised by the Energy Types. This is kind of like your Sun sign (or star sign) in astrology.

There are 5 Energy Types and they are the Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector and Reflector. 

This is your first point of differentiation

Then we have your Authority. This tells us how you make correct decisions.

We’ve been sold the lie that all good decisions come from thinking and logic. But thats not true at all.

Correct decisions come from the body, and your Authority tells us which part of your body speaks the loudest. 

Then we have the Energy Centres. This is where your uniqueness really starts to shine. There are 9 Energy Centres in Human Design, and they include the Root, Solar Plexus, Sacral, Spleen, G Centre, Throat, Ajna and Head

What centres you have defined (activated and ready to utilise) or undefined (unfamiliar but a place of growth) will influence how you leverage these energy bodies in your business. 

But let’s start at the beginning. Your Energy Types tells you a lot about how your energy moves in the world and how you are here to contribute your gifts uniquely.

Let’s take a look at each Energy Type and explore their most aligned scaling strategy. 

Business Strategies

Manifestor

The Initiator, The Pioneer, The Catalyst

Manifestors are independent initiators who are here to bring new ideas into the world and don’t need permission to act. 

They have a closed and repelling aura, which may sound a little intense, but in reality, it serves its purpose. Manifestors hate being questioned and interrupted. Their aura ensures they can initiate and inform on what matters most to them.

Manifestors are technically “non-energy” beings, however, they do operate in a pulsating on-off energy pattern. Their energetic on-switch is influenced by either pressure, feelings or motivation. But none of these energy sources can last, so rest is vital when that switch goes back off. 

Manifestors inform and initiate - that’s their strategy. They are the only type who don’t need to wait for something external for them to act. They must first wait for a true self urge and once they’ve experienced that, they can inform before initiating so that they can have a smooth initiation process. 

When operating in their true self, Manifestors inspire and empower others with their vision and they experience “peace” through being able to work in an uninterrupted way. 

They are more likely to experience their Signature (“peace”) when they are honouring their surge-rest-surge cycle. 

When they are in their “not self”, they experience anger at being interrupted in their creative flow or because they are not informing (usually because they’ve experienced conditioning that informing = permission and someone is going to stop them from moving forward). 

Ideal business model

How can you leverage your burst-rest-burst-rest energy cycle? 

For many of my Manifestors clients, community groups are out and live launches are in. Creating containers where you can be all in on your clients for a short or sometimes extended period of time depending on your burst-rest cycle, is going to be most supportive.

Consider this the launch-deliver-rest model. 

In application, this might look like opening the doors to your signature program twice a year or having more of an agency model in your business where you are the visionary and you have a team/co-coaches that support with the “doing”. 

It also means giving yourself full permission to birth something and then leave it be. For example, you might receive an urge to create something that is slightly outside of what you’re known for but it’s something that feels alive for you right now and has moved through your Authority. It might be launched and then moved into a passive offer afterwards (or not at all!). 

Having a team that can receive your ideas when informed and implement it quickly and with little back and forth will help you as a Manifestor to feel safe to fully embrace your gift of initiation.  

Your gift is at initiating, so getting things going isn’t the hard part. But sticking around to see it through can be a little challenging. This is also why having a good team and good systems is so important. 

Keep lines of communication open, but also keep it simple so that you can easily inform your team as you need to. Something like Slack works a charm.

Remember that your strength as a Manifestor is to initiate, so don’t get caught up in the building or the guiding. I.e. a business model like mine where I am doing a lot of building and guiding within the businesses of my clients is unlikely to feel supportive for a Manifestor!

Generator

The Magnetic Builder, The Creative

Generators are our energised “builders” who thrive on feeling satisfied and excited (which happens when they are responding to life). 

Generators have consistent access to life force energy (through their defined Sacrals), ONLY when they are doing what they truly love. If they feel lit up by their work, they’ll have energy for days. 

Generators are most magnetic when they are waiting (even though this feels uncomfortable) and then responding to life. They are not here to initiate or force their sacral energy, which usually leads to misaligned opportunities or a waste of liquid gold energy. 

Generators have an open and enveloping aura, which really aids them in their magnetism. When you are around a Generator who loves what they do, they radiate their sacral energy. 

The Generator's strategy is to respond. What are they responding to? Ultimately their sacral and life. To receive a true response, they must be out experiencing and engaging with life! 

Most sacrals are conditioned to force and initiate. Think about these common phrases:

“A quick decision is a good decision”

“Just do it”

It can be incredibly uncomfortable for a sacral being to wait to feel their response but this is what generates the energy to create. Without it, they are forcing things and will likely experience burnout because they don’t actually have the energy for that thing. 

What they are waiting for is for their energy to show them where it wants to go. When there’s energy for something, they will feel it. The mind will be more quiet and their body will say “go”. 

A Generator will know when they are responding to life in a true and aligned way because they will feel a deep sense of satisfaction. If feelings of frustration arise, it’s likely that they rushed the process and didn’t allow their sacral to respond before they took action. 

Ideal business model

As a Generator, you’ve got the energy to see things through - particularly when you love what you do. For this reason, I often see Generators thriving in a “done for you” (DFY) model;  a strategy that involves the exchange of a service for money. 

A DFY model would be something like offering branding services to someone where you take their message and their brief and then you do all of the design work for their website. It could also be DFY business strategy and messaging where you do all of the website copy and social media content for someone.

I consider my NEON structure a little bit DFY in the sense that I do a lot of editing and refinement of my client’s strategies and messaging but its not DFY in the sense that they brief me and I hand over everything to them. They are doing the work and I am intimately working alongside them refining, coaching and sharing perspectives.

There is a big myth out there that a DFY model isn’t scalable. And if you believe that, I’d say you're just talking to the wrong coach 😉

It’s really important that in whatever you do, you feel really satisfied by your work, rather than chasing an external metric of success that doesn’t matter to you. It’s easy to get caught up in $50k months, or having a huge team, but is that even satisfying to you? When you’re not satisfied, your Sacral doesn’t feel juicy to be around and this means you’re not magnetic to the people you desire to be magnetic to. 

Being supported in business isn’t just for Manifestors. Not every task within your business is going to light your sacral on fire, so it’s important that you consider what can be:

Deleted
Delegated or,
Diminished.

Get really clear on what you enjoy giving your sacral energy to, and do more of that.

While this may seem unorthodox as far as a scaling strategy goes, don’t forget to have hobbies and other things in their life that feel satisfying, exciting and pleasurable. 

This will come in handy when you haven’t received a response and are feeling the urge to rush ahead. It’s good to channel your energy into fun hobbies so you can get out of your mind and back into your body so you can feel a response. 

Hot tip: As our builders, it can be really easy to fall into the trap of constantly “doing”. This is a surefire way to halt your scaling capacity. Don’t get caught up in the busyness and doing just because you feel you can. 

Sometimes the most magnetic thing a Generator can do is say NO.

Manifesting Generator

Time Benders, Multi-Passionates, Alchemists

Manifesting Generators (Mani-Gen) are technically a sub-type of the Generator, the main difference being that they have a Manifestor edge. While they have the same strategy as a Generator to respond, Mani-Gens move at a faster pace than the Generator and they typically skip steps and through that process to find efficiency.

This is a gift of the Mani Gen - creating efficiencies

They learn things quickly and can give themselves permission to “not complete” anything that no longer feels aligned. They are quick to know what's not working and respond accordingly. 

They also love to work on multiple things at once and are multi-passionate in that way. 

Mani-Gen’s in business don’t have to stick to just one thing. Their passion can evolve and even change over time. So it’s important they don’t get caught up in the narrative of “sticking to one thing” and “niche-ing down” and rather give themselves permission to explore everything that feels exciting. 

The most important part of their strategy is to respond. They can inform, although it's not as important as it is for the Manifestor. When a Mani-Gen has a response, they are usually straight into action. 

Just like the Generator, when they are in response to something that is true and not initiated by the mind, they have true life force energy and are magnetic to opportunities, clients and experiences.

Just like a Generator, a Mani-Gen will know when they are responding to life in a true and aligned way because they will feel a deep sense of satisfaction (and sometimes peace). If feelings of frustration (or anger) arise, it’s likely that they rushed the process and didn’t allow their sacral to respond before taking action. 

Ideal business model

Mani-Gen’s love freedom. It’s a big part of the reason why they seek out efficiencies. Although there is an inherent love of “doing”, there is also a quickness that needs to be acknowledged. 

The most supportive business model for a Mani-Gen is one that gives you freedom - whatever freedom looks like to you. 

It might be the freedom to set your schedule week-to-week rather than month-to-month. Or perhaps it's the freedom to rejig the next quarter's strategy because you’ve had a sacral response and a team that can support the vision. 

What I see working for a lot of my Mani-Gen clients are community spaces and memberships that are delivered in more of an evergreen way. Places where you can respond to your sacral and be on with your clients, while still operating on your own schedule. 

I love the strategy of creating a couple of really core offers that you deliver in an efficient and satisfying way to you and then you leave space in your schedule to create fun micro offers or paid masterclasses that feel really juicy and exciting to you that you’ve had a Sacral response on. 

What I see a lot of Manifesting Generators do is they create their whole business model based on whatever is exciting them in the moment and while their satisfaction is definitely their North Star in business (I’m a Mani Gen also), you also need strategies that create stability in your monthly recurring revenue.  

It can be great to trial different offers to discover whether there’s an interest that continues to stay over a period of time (this is a clue for your core offer!)

Like the Generator, you need to prioritize your energy and satisfaction above all else. If you haven’t received a response, it's important to channel your energy into hobbies and activities that bring you satisfaction and joy. 

Like our Generators, sometimes the most magnetic thing you can do is say NO!

Just like our Manifestors, having a good team can really support you in bringing your vision to life. Not every task within your business is going to light your sacral on fire, so it’s important that you consider what can be:

Deleted

Delegated or,

Diminished.

Projector

The Guide, The Advisor, The Seer

Projectors have the unique gift of reading people and nailing systems. They have a focused, penetrative and absorbing aura which helps them to really see into another. 

Projectors are another “non-energy” being (like our Manifestors and Reflectors), and so their energy really is a finite resource. This is why Projectors should never be valued by how much they can do but rather how they can see, guide and advise others. 

Projectors came into existence with the discovery of Uranus in 1781 which is when we evolved from 7 centered beings to 9 centered beings. This feels important to mention because by moving to the 9-centred being, we became inherently more receptive, and Projectors are here to guide us on how to do that. 

The Projector's role is to guide others and their energy so that they can achieve their “signature” which is their true self theme (in particular, the sacrals!). 

They are masters at knowing how energy is to be used efficiently and they are really here to become an incredible resource and source of wisdom for all energy types. 

The key to being a Projector is to wait for the invitation before guiding. And what’s required to receive an invitation is to be seen and recognised for the gifts and wisdom you can share.

How to know if an invitation is right for you? Your authority can tell you that. (We’ll get to that soon!)

The reason why Projectors need to wait for an invitation is so they can be discerning about what they spend their energy on. If a Projector is initiating and not waiting for that recognition, they’ll likely miss more aligned opportunities. It’s also so that the Projector doesn’t give unsolicited advice because boy - that doesn’t end well. 

Just because a Projector is waiting for an invitation doesn’t mean they sit on their hands and do nothing! They don’t need an invitation to share their expertise and artistry or to pursue something that excites them.

It is so important that they are sharing their expertise and wisdom in content because this is ultimately how they can be seen and receive invitations from others. 

When a Projector is not waiting for the invitation they are likely to feel bitter. Namely for giving advice that wasn’t used or feeling completely unheard! 

Bitterness will feel different for each Projector but more commonly, it looks like: feeling invisible or like nobody notices them, feeling unappreciated and resentful, feeling heaviness and exhaustion of trying to keep up with everyone. 

If this happens it’s helpful to ask meaningful questions like “Did I feel truly seen before saying yes to this?” “Was I invited to share my perspective?” “Did I try to initiate?”.

Instead, Projectors are here to experience success. This happens when they can see and recognise other people, ask quality questions and guide energy. 

Success doesn’t just mean financial success, although this is definitely important. Projectors want to feel financially remunerated for their guidance of others, but ultimately it's a deeper feeling of success and purpose in the work they do.

Ideal business model

What I see a lot in business is that Projectors, being the guides, often end up in done-for-you (DFY) or one-on-one consulting, which is incredibly aligned… but only to a point. 

Your energy as a Projector is a finite resource, so it's pretty easy to burn out from back-to-back client sessions. With your focused and penetrating aura, one-on-one or small intimate group settings feel most aligned, however, expanding your capacity to hold larger groups can help aid in your energy expenditure and scaling.

This could look like a group program that instead of having one-on-one calls or one group session, may have 3-5 session times with a maximum of 5 clients at each group call time. It might also be about offering 1:1 consulting but only calls and not the consistent access via email/Slack in between. 

When I’m working with Projector clients, I’m also always looking for opportunities to add in income streams that are passive that don’t require their input. This might look like reports that can be downloaded (perfect if you’re in the human design or astrology space), and passive courses and masterclasses sold through a funnel.

Something I recommend to all my Projector clients is to great really clear on who your ideal client is. Become really aware of who values your expertise and nurture these relationships so that invitations can come knocking. 

As your energy is finite, you need to be really discerning about what you say yes to. An invitation alone is not enough. Similarly, just waiting around for invitations to happen is also not going to be supportive. 

While you are waiting for invitations, it's super important that you focus on upskilling and honing your craft. 

Take a leaf out of the Generators and Mani-Gens book and prioritise being out in the world, as well as looking after your body. A key way to do that is through REST. 

Don’t wait until you are exhausted to rest, start to notice the warning signs earlier and rest before you’re tired. Whether you realise it or not, you are constantly taking in and amplifying sacral energy - which can be great at times to really get to the job done - but if this occurs over a prolonged period of time you’ll experience deep burnout.  

Give yourself permission to “pull your aura back” when you’re not feeling recognised. 

Reflectors

The Evaluator, The Judge, The Karmic Mirror

Reflectors are our rare unicorn Energy Type, making up less than 1% of the population 😱What makes a Reflector so unique is that they are completely undefined (aka there are no defined or coloured Energy Centres in their chart).

They are everything, and nothing, all at once

Reflectors are not beings of the sun and rather are more greatly influenced by the moon and its transits as this impacts which gates are activated in their chart over the course of a month.

Being rare and unicorn-y in nature means that their role is equally as rare and tremendously important. Reflectors are our human barometers, and their role is to reflect what they see in the world around them

Reflectors are natural observers who adapt and reflect the energy of their environment. There are a number of ways a Reflector can embrace this energetic quality. 

They could share their observations and perspectives via a podcast - like well-known Reflector, Jordan Younger, from the Balanced Blonde.

Or perhaps they reflect what they see in the world around them like Margaret Atwood has done in her 18 published novels and most notably in her book The Handmaid's Tales.

She shared in a Masterclass interview that she was so bewildered by the general public's response to such a narrative in a story, and yet she felt that what she wrote was already all around her. 

You see Reflectors have a knack for seeing, or more so “sampling” energetic themes they are picking up from others in an intimate setting or from the broader collective; and then “reporting” on them in some way or another, big or small. 

Reflectors are inherently wise and intuitive, with their ability to be sensitive to the world around them. 

A Reflector's strategy is to prioritize their environment and then wait a lunar cycle before they move on a decision. Why a lunar cycle? Because as beings of the moon, they are highly influenced by the moon's transit, which successfully moves through each energetic quality available in Human Design in a 28-day cycle. 

Because of this, Reflectors experience new versions of themselves every single day. This process is what helps them process information and know if something is correct for them. 

Being in the right environment is key for Reflectors, and they’ll know if they are in the right environment because their body will tell them.

A Reflector will also know if they are in the right environment and in energetic alignment as they will experience feelings of surprise (and delight!). When the environment or alignment is off this will lead to feelings of disappointment. 

Disappointment can also occur when Reflectors are not embracing their fluidity and instead become fixed on one thing or over-identify with it. If they are constantly feeling disappointed by a space or by a particular person, they need to give themselves permission to move on. 

Ideal business model 

I have seen Reflectors take on a number of business models, and I think the reason that happens is because of how greatly they are influenced by the energetic transits of the moon. 

What I get my Reflector clients to consider is where most of their gate activations sit; said another way which energy centre has the most gates active. This can be a real indication as to where they are likely to experience the most definition throughout the lunar cycle and ultimately influence how they best operate in business.  

For the most part, Reflectors do well with evergreen business models. This can allow you to really ebb and flow within your lunar cycle. I.e. that might look like primarily being focused on 1:1 and small group work that people can book at any time. 

With that said, the best business model you could have will likely come from being highly attuned to your lunar cycle and living cyclically as a result. 

One-on-one or “Dial an Oracle” style offers are also conducive to your ability to share your objective observations. 

Just like all the “non-energy beings” (Projectors and Manifestors), Reflectors need to learn to rest before they feel tired and embrace the inconsistent nature of their energy. A great strategy for all non-energy beings is to look at where they can leverage work they’ve already done. Example: Can podcast episodes be repurposed into blogs by a VA?

It’s really important for Reflectors to be able to move through different environments regularly and so that might look like working from a coffee shop or a co-working space so they can sample different environments and put themselves into a position where they can make objective evaluations. 

It’s also really beneficial to be in conversation with people so they can soundboard. Bonus points if they can connect with people who ask great open-ended questions like:

  • “What are your thoughts on X topic?”

  • “How do you feel about what you’re seeing in X area?”

Through those conversations, it is likely that Reflectors will start to realise what evaluations they actually do have and this can be turned into content and offers.

Authority: How to make correct decisions

Your authority in Human Design tells you how you make correct decisions and it is one of the most important things to be aware of to ensure you’re not unconsciously building a business model that you hate!

For so long we have been conditioned to believe that “correct” decision-making comes from the mind. From logic and “thinking”. Yet this couldn’t be further from the truth and the reason for that is the mind only considers what is logical. It’s more likely to look at past evidence as an indicator of future results. 

Correct decision-making comes from the body. The body is infinite in its wisdom. 

And we each have a unique body wisdom that helps guide us in our decision-making process.

From there, logic and mental activity can come in to see the decision through - but it’s never the deciding vote.

Understanding your authority in business is crucial. It’s how you ensure you are building sustainable, profitable businesses that you love. 

You hear me talk a lot about responding to my sacral and that’s because I have a Sacral authority. When I was unconsciously building a business I hated almost all of my decisions were coming from the mind.

My decisions were based on;

  • What made sense (mostly from the outside looking in)

  • What was logical

  • What my mind had seen been done before

But now my decisions come from a different place entirely. They come from my body and as a Sacral Mani-Gen that place is my gut.

And from the outside looking in my decisions may seem:

  • Nonsensical

  • Illogical

  • Never been done before

And that’s the thing about listening to your authority - it’s going to not make sense to someone else and chances are it’s going to seem illogical. 

But that’s the point and the first indication that you're truly listening to your body and not your mind. 

In Human Design there are 7 Authorities. Depending on your design you could have any one of these decision-making processes. 

  1. Solar Plexus (Feeling) 

  2. Sacral (Gut instincts) 

  3. Splenic (Intuition)

  4. Ego (Desire)

  5. Self-Projected/Sounding Board (Talking it out)

  6. Mental/Environmental (Being in the right environment & soundboarding)

  7. Lunar (Waiting a lunar cycle - Reflectors only)

Let’s break down each one for you.

Solar Plexus (Feeling) Authority

For an emotional authority, there is no truth in the now

You gotta feel things out. Which is tough because how often have you heard “don’t make emotional decisions”, and yet this is your gift!

The truth is it's not about making “emotional decisions” but rather giving your body time to process the highs and lows (or the emotional wave) that you encounter in your decision-making process. 

It’s also important that you check where you are at in your emotional wave at a time in which you have to make a decision. It’s twofold;

  1. How is this decision/proposition/issue making me feel

  2. What emotional state was I in before this decision/proposition/issue crossed my path 

Ultimately you never want to make a decision from a high point or a low point. It’s important to move through them but decide only once you reach a point of emotional neutrality. This can take time, so give yourself at least 24 hours to make a decision but be prepared for it to take longer than that. 

The last thing you want is to make all of your decisions from an emotional high and then have no energy to execute on all the things your emotional high told you were a good idea!

Sacral (Gut instinct) Authority

If you have a Sacral authority you are either a Generator or a Mani-Gen and this authority is so beautifully tied to your strategy to respond. Because ultimately what you are responding to when it comes to any decision that crosses your path is your gut

Life, people and situations will present you with opportunities to be in a state of response, and what you’re responding to is whatever is coming through your sacral, or your gut.

This is a very visceral authority, in that your body can literally expand to what’s a hell yes from your sacral, or contract for anything that’s coming through as a strong hell no.

And it’s quite literal in that you may feel this from your “gut” - yes your guts! The sacral authority is really what everyone is talking about when they say ‘trust your gut’ and for you, this is how you make true and aligned decisions. 

Notice how your body responds when you’re making decisions. What is your body language? What sounds do you make? Do you say “u-huh” or “na-uh”? Your body will already know the answer before your mind does!

Splenic (Intuition) Authority

If this is yours, you have one of the most primal body-led decision-making authorities. Your decisions are purely led by your intuition and for you, there is truth in the now because that’s how the Spleen works. 

Intuition completely goes against everything we have been taught to believe about decision-making from the mind. 

Where the mind is logical and pragmatic, intuition has no rhyme or reason. This can make it incredibly hard to trust (until you’ve flexed this muscle a few times and see that it yields results!).

People might ask you to explain your decision, and if you can't, then you know it’s come from the right place!

Your intuition can speak to you in a number of different ways, it may be;

  • Visceral in feeling (clairsentient) - which is also not too dissimilar to how the sacral gut instinct is felt

  • Auditory (clairaudience) in that it's a clear thought (that doesn’t feel like a thought from you at all but rather a voice in your head)

  • Visual (clairvoyance) in that you receive a picture in your “mind's eye” either in your day-to-day or through dreams/meditation

  • A deeper knowing (claircognizance) in that you just know if your body if something is right or wrong, without explanation

It’s important to get clear on how your intuition speaks to you so that you can learn to strengthen that muscle. 

Ego (Desire) Authority

Ego authority can sound a bit intimidating just given the negative contention of the ego, however, this authority is all about desire and motivation. This is also an authority that can only be held by Manifestors or Projectors. 

With that in mind, if a Manifestor has the desire, motivation and willpower to initiate on a decision then that's a good indication that it is correct for them.

Similarly, if a Projector receives an aligned invitation and feels that surge of desire, motivation and willpower it's very likely that it’s true and correct for them also. 

If this is your authority, it’s not wrong for you to ask “What’s in it for me?”. This is where the ego comes in.

This authority is centred in “Me, My, Mine”, so placing your needs and what you’ll receive from a decision can aid you in making correct decisions. And of course, all of this will be felt in the body as desire and motivation.

Self-Projected Authority

With this authority, it’s really important that you get comfortable with talking things out as this is where the path forward becomes clear.

Only a Projector can have this authority and in order to have this, they will have a defined G centre that is connected to their Throat centre (and no other definition below the G centre). 

Because of that defined G centre and Throat centre, this Authority is really about permission to be focused on “I” and what decision is going to best support self-actualisation.

As you speak out your decisions you’ll feel the reverberations of that frequency back in your body and you’ll find clarity on what is right or wrong for you, and ultimately how to decide. 

Just because you're here to speak it out, doesn’t mean you are seeking other people's perspectives. You have the answer within, so don’t outsource your decision-making. Make sure that anyone you are confiding in as a way to “speak it out” is acting as a soundboard rather than forcing their own opinion and belief on you. 

When given the space you’ll feel it in your body. 

Mental/Environmental Authority

Only Projectors who have definition from the Throat centre up can have this Authority. 

With our Mental/Environmental authority, it builds on our Self-Projected sounding board Authority but with a greater emphasis on the environment.

Your greatest gift as a Projector with definition above the Throat centre is your mind, however, as we have come to see; we are not here to make decisions from the mind. 

When you are in the correct environments/space and around the correct people who you can soundboard with, you can come to mental clarity with a lot more ease. 

Again, this is our final Projector-only authority, so understanding your inherent desire to read others and misread yourself, it’s important that you become hyper-aware of what environments feel good and that you start to build “evidence” of how you make correct decisions for you.

Lunar Authority

This authority is reserved exclusively for our Reflectors and it goes hand-in-hand with their strategy, to wait a lunar cycle

Correct decision-making requires time and space. The rule is that you should wait a full lunar cycle (approx 28-29.5 days) to make a decision but I have a slightly different perspective on this. 

Yes, you need to give yourself time but how much time is kind of dependent on the decision and the lunar cycle. 

One decision may take 5 days for you to reach clarity on, based on the external energetic influence at play. Other decisions may take 2 weeks. In essence, try to give yourself as much time as you can. 

It’s important that you remain in receptivity and allow clarity to land when it lands. 

How your Energy Centres influence your business strategy 

This is another layer of uniqueness in your Human Design and is where we get into the nitty-gritty of where your strengths lie. 

There are 9 Energy Centers in Human Design, they are:

  • Root - Physical pressure, drive and adrenaline

  • Solar Plexus - Feelings, desire and passion

  • Sacral - Life force, gut instincts and creation

  • Spleen - Intuition, instincts and fears

  • G Centre - Identity, love and direction

  • Throat - Expression, manifestation and connection to the external 

  • Ajna - Ideas, thoughts, opinions and conceptualising

  • Head - Mental pressure, inspiration and questions 

Wherever is Defined (represented by a coloured geometric shape on your chart) is where you have an inherent gift that you can lean into. Wherever is Undefined (represented by a white geometric shape on your chart) is where you are here to grow and learn. This may not feel like something you are skilled in, but it presents as an opportunity to grow.
