Selling… It’s kind of fundamental to ANY business out there and yet it can be one of the most challenging aspects for budding entrepreneurs.
What I've come to see as a coach to clients who predominantly operate online service businesses is that a fear of selling is really hindering their business growth.
I mean, I get it.
As a service provider, we’re selling things that are directly connected to us.
It is our creative idea.
And that can feel like a lot.
There are so many layers to selling…
Mindset
Aligned sales strategies
Infrastructure
Capacity (both literal and energetic)
And so much more.
It can be easy to believe that selling is simple but the reality is that you need a really strong foundation in your business, a solid mindset and a deep trust in yourself to sell soulfully.
Today I want to help you overcome this fear of selling!
I’m going to shatter the common misconceptions that we business owners have about selling, explore the role of mindset and energy in having successful sales and using Human Design to create a sales process that feels natural and aligned.
Let’s dive into my 3 proven strategies that will help you overcome your fear of selling!
Mindset
I have a question for you…
How much do you think you need to be selling in order to convert consistently?
Every day?
Every other day?
That’s a pretty standard thing to be told by coaches and creators.
In my experience, part of the fear of selling actually comes from the thought that it has to happen all the time.
I told myself for a long time that not wanting to sell all the time was a “limiting belief”.
But the truth is, as a:
5th line who doesn’t want to be in the projection field all of the time,
12th house Moon who values alone time and seclusion,
Cancerian Sun who wears her heart on he sleeve,
… the idea of being online all the time and having to sell all the time makes me feel physically sick in the stomach.
Because the truth is, you don’t have to sell all the time in order to be successful.
In fact, I think many of the people who tell you that you need to sell all the time in order to be successful are those that rely on that in order to make sales.
If your business needs you to always sell in order to convert, then you’ve probably got other problems.
Your business should be able to create sales without you always being there. How do we make that happen? By ensuring you have:
✅ High quality content that establishes you as an authority
✅ A clear nurture pathway for new leads that come into your business
✅ Clear and tangible messaging that people can understand without you
^^^ all things that can help you to convert without having to sell all the time.
I don’t sell all the time and I have an incredibly successful business.
The reason for this, though, is I started accepting my thoughts around not wanting to sell all the time.
Instead of telling myself it was a limiting belief, I asked myself:
How can I create a business that continues to convert *without* selling all the time?
It was accepting these thoughts and asking myself a different question that helped me to create a profitable and spacious business.
So if there’s a part of you feeling really down about selling… maybe you’re even telling yourself that you have a fear of selling… ask yourself - is that coming from a place of feeling like you have to do it every day?
Energetic Practice:
Journal on: if I could have any sales process, what would that look like? If I didn’t try to change not wanting to sell all the time, what things do I need in my business in order to make that happen?
Energetic practice (from our NEON energy practitioner and emotional well-being support, Frankie Simmons).
This practice was originally given to me as a recovering people-pleaser and recovering “trying to prove myself always” person.
It was created to remind me that my value and what I bring to the table is unwavering.
That, whether I sell once or 4 times or none at all, I deliver impact and value and I get to trust that.
The reason why I wanted to share this with you is because I see so many people forcing themselves to sell not necessarily because they need to. But because they don’t trust their value. They don’t trust in the quality of their content and that it can do some of the selling for them.
Here’s the practice:
Take a second to ground yourself and then bring into your awareness all of the incredible transformations and results you’ve facilitated for people around you. Whether it's family, clients, business partners or friends. Visualise this as warm energy and light moving from the crown of your head, down through your body, out the bottom of your toes and into the Earth beneath you. See and visualise those transformations and the incredible value you provide expanding into the Earth and as you do that, remind yourself that your value is as solid and unwavering as the ground that you walk on. No amount of inclusions changes that value. It is steadfast. It is solid. It is always there.
Finally, a reminder that sales is about creating impact with whatever it is that we are selling.
If we make it about ourselves, we’re missing the point a little.
We’re making it about us when the process is about our clients.
2. Human Design
When I learned about my Signature, Strategy and Authority, it made it so much easier to get behind sales.
Because sales don’t start just with sales.
It starts way before that.
For example, as a Sacral Authority Manifesting Generator, here’s what’s important for me when it comes to sales:
Responding to life and to my sacral response telling me what offers my body actually has energy to create and,
Feeling satisfied AF throughout the process of birthing that offer
When these things happen I feel so excited, lit up and satisfied by what I’m creating that I can’t help but sell.
So my question for you is:
If you’re avoiding selling, is it actually about sales?
Let’s look at some examples:
Emotional Generator/Manifesting Generator
If you’re an Emotional Authority Generator or Manifesting Generator, it all starts with:
Responding to life and noticing what your sacral says “yes” to having energy for
Riding your emotional wave to make sure it is a consistent yes
Asking yourself, “What feels most satisfying to me” throughout the creation process
Watch out for:
If you initiate and force an offer, you’re not going to feel excited to sell it.
If you don’t ride your emotional wave.
If you weren’t excited about the offer over time.
If the decision was made at an emotional high.
You’re not likely to feel excited to sell, right?
Splenic Projector
Say you’re a Splenic Authority Projector.
If this is your Authority, you have one of the most primal body-led decision-making authorities. Your decisions are purely led by your intuition and for you, there is only truth in the now because that’s how the Spleen works.
What’s important for you is:
Attuning yourself to the invitations you're receiving from your community where you feel most seen and recognised
Letting your splenic intuition support you to recognise invitations that aren’t actually healthy for you, where you’re not being recognised.
Being willing to let things go if they no longer feel alive in you (your intuition will tell you this!)
Watch out for:
If you’re initiating instead of waiting for the invitation.
If you’re not attuned to the intuitive instincts of your spleen.
If you’re saying yes to invitations that aren’t actually energetically correct.
You’re probably going to come up with every “excuse” under the Sun to not sell.
And it won’t have anything to do with fear around selling and everything to do with things not being “correct” from the beginning.
Self-Projected Projector
Say you’re a Self-Projected Projector.
Only a Projector can have this authority and in order to have this, they will have a defined G centre that is connected to their Throat centre (and no other definition below the G centre).
Because of that defined G centre and Throat centre, this Authority is really about permission to be focused on “I” and what decision is going to best support self-actualisation.
As you speak out your decisions you’ll feel the reverberations of that frequency back in your body and you’ll find clarity on what is right or wrong for you, and ultimately how to decide.
What’s important for you is:
Attuning yourself to the invitations you're receiving from your community where you feel most seen and recognised.
Talking those invitations out with someone you trust who isn’t necessarily there to guide, but can ask you questions so you can come to your own decision.
Again, like the Splenic Projector, watch out for:
If you’re initiating or saying yes to invitations that aren’t energetically correct.
If you’re not speaking out the different options and coming to a conclusion through that process.
You probably won’t feel very excited about selling.
Ego Manifestor
In our last example, let’s look at the Ego Manifestor.
Ego authority can sound a bit intimidating just given the negative connotation of the ego, however, this authority is all about desire and motivation. This is an authority that can only be held by Manifestors or Projectors.
As an Ego Manifestor, if you have the desire, motivation and willpower to initiate a decision then that's a good indication that it is correct for you.
What’s important for you is:
Noticing the urges you have about what offers you want to create and sell
Check in with the Ego centre and ask yourself, “What’s in it for me?” If you find clarity there, then it's likely that the creation is coming from an aligned place and you’ll feel excited AF about selling it
Watch out for:
If you’re initiating an urge where you haven’t identified what’s in it for you.
If you don’t actually have the desire to birth it.
You’ll likely not feel good about selling it.

To sum up, sometimes sales aren’t actually the issue.
I would really encourage you to check in on:
“What is it about selling that isn’t feeling good right now?”
“What do I feel connected to in my offer?”
“What doesn’t feel right in the offer?”
“Are there some shifts that I can make so I feel more excited to sell the offer?”
3. Money Driver
This is something that has become more important for me as time has gone on.
As I’ve built something that is more automated, that doesn’t need me to sell as much, I’ve started to sell less and less.
I’ve got out of the habit.
On the one hand, I love that about my business.
I love that it is more organic and my years of “value-add” content creation and client testimonials speak for themselves.
And, I also have huge financial goals for me and my family.
Having a purpose for how I want to use the money I make makes me so much more excited to sell.
When I disconnect from that, I sell less.
For me, a big driver is investing.
I started investing a couple of years ago and I absolutely LOVE it.
I’m so interested in it.
I love researching.
I want to create more cash flow so that I can continue growing my portfolio.
This is a big driver of mine.
It’s important that you consider what your unique driver is.
Why is it important for you to sell and make money?
Perhaps identifying this can make you more and help you to continue selling.
Think of your business as the ship, and your driver as the coordinates for where your ship needs to go.
Without those coordinates, you’re floating in the abyss.
Which doesn’t sound fun at all 😣
But once you give that ship somewhere to go, all of a sudden, it’s one hell of a ride.

selling doesn't have to be a daunting or an uncomfortable experience.
When you understand your unique Human Design and consider what unique strategies are going to best support you, you can create a sales process that feels natural, authentic, and aligned with your values.
